Your new workout bestie

Mom of a sassy 6-year old and wife to an amazing husband (who also happens to be the resident Step + Sip DJ), Dia was born and raised in Houston, TX. Throughout her adulthood, she has been on the quest to find a consistent balance between fun, fitness, health, and wellness. This is especially important to her since her hobbies include baking, hanging out with family and friends, and exploring new restaurants (and their champagne and cocktail menus).

Dia is a firm believer that indulgences are okay in moderation, but they must be balanced with healthy eating and a consistent workout regimen. For years, she struggled to find a workout that she enjoyed until attending a step aerobics class at a local gym.

Meet Dia

Ah, it was “love at first step”! As much as she enjoyed being a student, she always imagined what it would be like if she pushed past her introverted ways to become a step aerobics instructor. She envisioned a fun atmosphere with motivating music that would give participants no choice but to dig deep and get a good workout in.

Dia’s vision came true in January of 2019 when she taught her first step class. Since then, she has instructed over 500 students, and her favorite accomplishment is encouraging and changing the minds of Beginners who are initially intimidated by the thought of attempting a step aerobics class. To further her personal mission of living a balanced lifestyle, she founded Step + Sip™ , which is a brand that fuses fun, fitness, health and wellness.

The Story

Have you ever been to a Hip Hop step aerobics class with a live DJ and cocktails? Yeah, neither had our founder, Dia, until she brought the concept to life on July 13, 2019. She realized that many people were hesitant to try step aerobics because they thought moves were intimidating or they just weren’t comfortable doing any kind of group exercise format. So, she curated a workout party with a friendly, easygoing, no-judgment atmosphere where people could gather with the same goals in mind- to work out, have fun, and sip cocktails!

Imagine having a calorie-torching, heart-pumping cardio workout with your favorite Hip Hop and R&B soundtrack, and quenching your thirst with a freshly handcrafted cocktail afterward. Sounds a bit unorthodox, right? Well, that’s how Step + Sip™ began. Since 2019, Dia has hosted dozens of workout parties and instructed over 500 students in workout parties, weekly classes, and charitable events combined. While these services are still offered, Step+ Sip™ is much more than just a workout party now. What started out as an event to convince people to attend a step class by promising them cocktails at the end has morphed into a complete lifestyle brand.

Step + Sip™ offers a well-balanced approach to living for women (and men) who are busy with life's obligations but also understand the importance of working out and meeting up with friends to indulge in tasty food and drinks that may not necessarily fit their macros every now and then. The goal is to make health and fitness fun by living a life of moderation.
